ON AND OFF
I am sure that everyone will be aware of the latest
Government Covid 19 rules (the Rule of Six) which comes into force next Monday.
As it stands no meeting can be held of over six people. There are certain
exceptions but in the main it means that all adult recreational activities over
six people are to be suspended for the time being. Sadly this includes our
painting group and we will therefore have to close again. .
It is true to say that this new legislation caught most
hall bodies and organisations unawares, the Hempton Parish hall included. In
view of the haste in which it was introduced many questions remain unanswered especially
"how does it affect us". Hopefully these issues will be resolved within
the next few days. In the meantime we will need to stay closed until we are
told that it is O.K. for us to reopen. In view of the wide differences of
opinion it is not possible to state how long this will be.
We will monitor the position and keep in contact with the
hall. As soon as I have any further news I will e-mail and post on the blog. In
the meantime North Norfolk have confirmed that the ruling applies to all its
community centres and this therefore becomes part of our terms of hire.
It is especially sad that on the day that we returned
they decided to change the rules yet again. Let us all hope that it is as short
as possible.
Hopefully things will become clearer in a week or two.
One question that has been raised is "can we call ourselves a class".
To date no reference has been made to adult classes. As we do not have a
qualified teacher this could be regarded as an avoidance to get round the law
and the nominated person could be liable for the group. So the answer is
probably not.
To sum up this must be the shortest term ever. Please
keep in contact and painting and we will get together again as soon as we
possibly can.
