 Picture Puzzle March 2026

Things to Note

The museum does not specify the actual dimensions of the picture. For our puzzle I have divided the picture into 10 pieces. Height 5.5 inches by 11 inches width. Although the picture was originally painted as a portrait the most practical way to arrive at our required number was to divide it was into landscape slices – see above.

Whilst there is no restriction in your painting medium bright bold colours would follow the artists intension, think David Hockney. The main object is for the pieces to match up so careful placement is suggested, especially at the edges.  Our final picture, when all the pieces have been completed,  will be 27.5 inches height and 22 inches wide.

If you go online  you will see that I have cropped the top slightly to get to a workable size.

Hilary Pecis has a slightly whimsical style. The nature of each object is more important to her than an actual geometric copy.

If you want to match her colours use the picture on the blog as matching with printing ink is very difficult. However, by way of consolation, the picture of your piece is actual size.

One additional thing to note . The pieces were divided by yellow lines to enable cutting. If any of these lines appear at the edge of your piece ignore them.

Best of luck.

Artists on The Green

Calling local artists or would-be artists

We have a few vacancies in our numbers and would welcome any local people whether you are just starting out or have been painting for ages. We meet every Tuesday morning during term time at the Hempton Village Hall between the hours of 9.45.am and 12.30. We came from an art class but we are now a friendly group meeting on a mutual help and support basis. We have members of all abilities and styles – so if you are looking for advice there is probably someone there who can help you. We paint or draw in all mediums save for oil paints. Our program is augmented by occasional visits from local artists. Norfolk is renowned for it’s arts community. We also engage in occasional non-obligatory art challenges. The members decide on the coming term’s program.

More details of our history, art work and what we have been doing are on this blog which also serves as our notice board and gallery.

Our term fees depend on membership numbers and the program for that term. We run three terms through the year, closing for school holidays. This term's fee is £40 but the cost varies depending on the length of each term. The membership fee covers the hall hire, occasional visiting artists' expenses and tea and coffee etc.  We always allow new visitors two or three free weeks to see if they wish to stay. So pop in if you are interested and meet us. We are a friendly group. Our current Summer Term runs from the 29th April to the 29th. of July.

Finally, the advice that we always give if you are new to art is don’t rush out and buy lots of stuff. Start with a few basics. See how you get on and what you like painting or drawing in. Chances are that someone in the group will have any other materials for you to try.

Looking forward to meeting you.
